Volume effects when light is projecting texture

Article needs peer review

Summary In XSI volume effects do not seem to work when you have a light>sib_slide_proj_light node plugged into the softlight shader in the render tree. Currently the volumic property is not designed to work with the slide projector shader. This limitation has been logged in #84887:Volume effects don't work when light is projecting a texture.

Steps  However, using the fast_light_effects shader it is possible to work around this limitation.

1) Select the light and open the render tree. Fetch the Nodes>light>Fast_light_effects node. Use the Projection option to select the texture to be projected

2) Plug this node directly into the Light Shader node of the light.

3) In the explorer access the passes(shortcut:A) list and open the property page for the current pass.

4) In the Volume shaders option Add the Fast_Volume_Effects shader to the stack.

5) Inspect the newly added shader and pick the light that is projecting the texture.

More Information You should now see the light projecting a texture. The light will also have volumic properties.
