Visual cues: Expressions and constraints in your scene
Article needs peer review
Summary
Here are two ways of finding the Expressions and Constraints in your scene.
Steps
Method 1
In the Schematic View:
- Expressions display a letter E above their node.
- A green line links the objects that are affected by the Expression.
- A letter C is displayed above the constrained nodes.
- A blue line links the objects that are affected by the Constraint.
Note: A letter A symbolises an animated node.
Method 2
In a viewport with one of the Geometry views set (i.e. Front, Top, etc.) and Show > Relations enabled:
- Select a constrained object: a line linking it to it's constraining object will be displayed.
- Select the link and hit Enter to open up the Constraints Property Page.
- Select an object that is affected by an expression: if the expression is one that is relative to another object, e.g. cone.kine.local.roty = cone.kine.local.rotx * 2, an expression link will be displayed.
- Selecting the link to display a popup dialogue showing the expressions, as illustrated:
A is the link and B is the expression associated to the link.
- Select an expression from the pop-up menu to access to the Expression Editor.
