Question

Is it possible to change the background color of the 3D viewports?

This may be necessary on certain monitors if they have trouble displaying high contrast graphics, or it may be something you simply like to experiment with.

Answer

You can change the color of the background of a 3D view by following these steps:

  1. Open an explorer view and set the scope to Project (press p)
  2. Expand the Scene node and click on Scene Colors
  3. In the Scene Colors property editor, switch to the Geometry Views tab
  4. Click on the color swatch for the Background to adjust the color
  5. To undo the changes click the 'Revert Changes' button at the top of the page

If you want to reset the background color to the default after you have closed the Scene Colors property editor, click on the Background color swatch and set each of the RGB values for the background color to 0.48.
