License Manager in a nutshell
[edit]
Get License
Get License automates the process of downloading and installing a license.
- Download an existing license. The Download License button is enabled only if a license exists in the license database on softimage.com. For example, after you activate a Foundation license, you can always download it again by clicking Download License.
- Activate a license using your registration code. Registration code activation is for Foundation and XSI Student/Teacher customers. Activation is a one-time thing. After you activate your license, you never have to activate it again. For example, after you activate your 6.0 license, you do not need to re-activate it for 6.01 or any other 6.x update.
[edit]
To check what licenses are installed
If the license server is running:
- In the License Manager toolbar, click Server > Query License Server.
- Under Query Options, click Query all licenses.
- Click Run Query.
If the license server is not running:
- Click Manage Key Database.
- Click List Keys.

To generate a request code
- - Start the License Manager (click Start > All Programs > Softimage Products > License Manager).

- If you get a "keylevel used up" or "Wrong SYSTEM ID" error, then click Rename Key Database and then try again to generate a request code.
