Troubleshooting - ilcor10.dll not found

Problem

When you try to start XSI, you get this error message:

This application failed to start because ilcor10.dll was not found.

Solution

Usually this error means that you did not start XSI the "right way". The right way to start XSI is to do either of the following:

• Use the shortcuts on the Start > All Programs > Softimage Products > SOFTIMAGE XSI_5.11 menu.
• Run the XSI.bat file in the XSI Application\bin folder.

Starting XSI using the Start menu shortcuts or XSI.bat ensures that all the environment variables used by XSI are set properly. XSI uses environment variables to find ilco10.dll.

Here's some of the "wrong ways" to start XSI:

• Double-clicking XSI.exe in Windows Explorer.
• Executing XSI.exe from a command prompt (you should run the command XSI.bat).
• Trying to start XSI using an old shortcut on your desktop.

Another possible reason for this error is that you have an older copy of ilcor10.dll somewhere on your system (for example, in C:\Windows\system32).
