Softimagexsi fails to install properly when antivirus software is running

Symptom
- your installation appeared to go smoothly
- your system meets the minimum system requirements
- your graphics card is suitable for the version of XSI you have installed and is running a certified driver
BUT
- XSI fails to start properly, or starts up and dies before launching the interface
Cause
Some makes of anti-virus software can cause damage to XSI if the anti-virus software is running while XSI is being installed.
Solution
If you have anti-virus software installed on your machine it may be interfering with the XSI installation and should be temporarily deactivated while you install XSI:
- uninstall the damaged installation of XSI
- deactivate the anti-virus software
- reboot and check that the anti-virus software is still deactivated
- install SOFTIMAGE|XSI
- reboot and turn your anti-virus software back on.
The installation of SOFTIMAGE|XSI should now be undamaged and the software should run properly.
