Article needs peer review

Symptom On trying to replace(Deform > Shape > Replace Shape Key ) one of the shapes that is currently instanced in the mixer, the other shapes are messed up and do not look like what was instanced previously.

Cause

As described in the manuals the correct way to replace a shape key is:

  1. Deform and transform the object/cluster into a new shape.
  2. In the explorer, expand the Mixer > Sources > Shape node and select the shape key you want to replace with the new one.
  3. Choose Deform > Shape > Replace Shape Key from the Animate toolbar.
  4. If step 2 is overlooked, the other shapes are likely to get messed up.

Solution

The best solution is to re-do the shapes in the mixer i.e: remove all the shape clips from the mixer and then re-instance the same. Then follow the correct procedure described above to replace the shape key.
