SPM FATAL ERROR - can't access dongle at -SLP
Problem
You cannot start the license server, install a key, or generate a request.
In the SPM server log, you see errors like this:
Jan/24/08 16:56:22 CRITICAL: fatal error: "can't access dongle at -SLP.".
Solution
Check the permissions on these registry keys:
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Softimage\LicenseManager
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Softimage\LicenseManager\Activation
To check the permissions:
- Right-click HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Softimage\LicenseManager
- Click Permissions
- Click the Advanced button
- Administrators should have Full Control permissions.
- Make sure both keys have the Inherit from parent... check box selected.
