How To: Install the Dongle Driver


  1. Open the Device Manager.

    To open the Device Manager, do one of the following:

    • Click Start, and then click Control Panel. Click Administrative Tools and then click Computer Management.
    • Right-click My Computer, and then click Manage.
  2. In the Computer Management console, click Device Manager.
  3. Expand 1-Wire Devices. If you see a yellow circle with an exclamation point, then the driver for the dongle is not installed properly.

  4. Right-click the unrecongized USB Device and then click Update Driver.
  5. In the Hardware Update Wizard:

    1. In the Welcome to the Hardware Wizard dialog box, click No, not this time. Then click Next.
    2. Click Install from a list or specific location (Advanced). Then click Next.
    3. Click Don't search. I will choose the driver to install. Then click Next.
    4. In the Model list, click USB Host for 1-Wire Microlan. Then click Next.
    5. The wizard starts installing the software, and then pops up a Files Needed dialog. Click Browse, and then do the following:

      • On 32-bit Windows, locate C:\Windows\system32\drivers\ds2490.sys.
      • On 64-bit Windows, locate C:\Softimage\SPM\driver\spmibu64.sys.
    6. When you locate the file, click it and then click Open.
