Displacement mapping tip converting an rgba image to grayscale

Summary Here is a quick way to convert an RGBA image to Grayscale, to be used in a Displacement Map effect.

Steps

1. Click on Explore in the Main Command Area (or switch a viewport to Explorer) and select the Sources/Clips view.

2. Expand the Clips folder and double-click on the RGBA image you want to convert in order to access it's Property Page.

You can also open the image clip's Property Page by double-clicking on it's node in the Render Tree view

3. In the Property Page, select the FX tab in the Image Clip properties.

4. Browse down to the tab's Convert section and enable the RGBA to GrayScale command.

5. Exit the Property Page and draw or refresh the Render region in a camera view to assess the conversion's result.
