Depth of field only shows grey scaled image in fxtree

Symptom
On applying a depth of field effect using the Fx tree, only a grey dotted image is seen in the FX viewer.
Cause
In the Fx tree, the depth of field effects starts off in the preview mode by default. In this mode it is possible to quickly determine a focus area for the depth of field effect. Once this is established one can exit this mode to proceed fine tuning the effect further.
Solution
In the Depth of field property page, uncheck the Preview focussed region option.
