Clsid error when opening a scene

Symptom

The scene can be opened locally on a the machine where the scene was
created - but when opening on any other machine it gives an error message with a CLSID.

The scene root object cannot be loaded due to the following missing components "[CLSID{ADCE5200-95A6-49BB-AD9D-2908992A18B7}]

Cause

This error pops up when XSI is not able to find (or components are not installed) Shaders, Plugins, Add-Ons, Libraies or Events that were used for creating the scene. These missing components are identified by their unique ID's, ClsID

Solution

Open XSI on the machine where the scene was originally created and check for the following:

  • File > Add-On > UnInstall
  • File > Add-On > Plugins(SPDL)..
  • File > Add-On > Libraries
  • File > Add-On > Events
