License Manager in a nutshell

Get License

Get License automates the process of downloading and installing a license.

  • Download an existing license. The Download License button is enabled only if a license exists in the license database on softimage.com. For example, after you activate a Foundation license, you can always download it again by clicking Download License.
  • Activate a license using your registration code. Registration code activation is for Foundation and XSI Student/Teacher customers. Activation is a one-time thing. After you activate your license, you never have to activate it again. For example, after you activate your 6.0 license, you do not need to re-activate it for 6.01 or any other 6.x update.

To check what licenses are installed

If the license server is running:

  1. In the License Manager toolbar, click Server > Query License Server.
  2. Under Query Options, click Query all licenses.
  3. Click Run Query.

If the license server is not running:

  1. Click Manage Key Database.
  2. Click List Keys.

To generate a request code

  1. If the license server is running, click Stop Server.
  2. Click Manage Key Database.
  3. Click Generate Request Code.

    ******** Creating new KeyDataBase ********
