Cannot apply an envelope to a lattice object

Symptom

When attempting to apply an envelope to a Lattice object, the following error message appears in the Mouse/status line:

'ERROR: "2003 - Interface not supported"

As a result, the envelope operation fails.



Cause

This problem is a known bug that has been identified in SOFTIMAGE|XSI v1.5.



Solution

Luckily there is a way to circumvent this problem, by simply following these easy steps:

  1. Before the envelope operation, select the Lattice Object.
  2. Tag all the vertices (points) of the Lattice object.
  3. Then apply the envelope to the lattice object.

Result: The Lattice object will become an envelope.
