Apply an action with timewarp back to the object at scene level
Article needs peer review
Summary
You have instanced an action and applied a timewarp to the clip. You now want to apply the timewrapped clip back to the object, at the scene level. With normal clips you could Actions>Apply Action in order to apply the action back to the object. However, apply actions only works on the sources and not on instanced(potentially warped/mixed) clips. The reason being that you can't stick back on the sources to the scene level without somehow redoing, or abstracting away, the work that the mixer has done(i.e. there is no time warp, mixing etc at the scene level).
Steps
- In the Animation Mixer, select the clip to which the timewrap and Clip>Freeze to New Source/Freeze and replace. The freeze works out which parameters the given clips drive, and plot them to new curves which are placed in a new source.
- In the explorer, select the frozen action to which you want to restore animation. Actions are stored in the Mixer>Sources>Animation folder of the parent model.
- Choose Actions > Apply Action from the Animate toolbar. The animation is restored to the original objects.
More Information Note: The above steps will work for any clips that are mixed/blended in the mixer.
