Academic student license not working with spm 1252 and above
Symptom
You are installing an Academic Student license on an SPM server version 1252 and above. XSI will not start and you get an 'XSIWindows was denied'.
Cause
The 'SPM_HOST' variable is not set correctly.
Solution
Academic student license are Local Node Lock (LNL), which means you can only run XSI on the same computer that is serving the license. You need to set the 'SPM_HOST' variable to 'localhost', setting the variable to the computer name will not work. You can set the 'SPM_HOST' variable on the last line of the file called setenv.bat located in c:/SoftimageXSI_3.5.1/Application /bin folder.
This problem should only occur with XSI version 2.0 - 3.5.1 and SPM 1252 and above.
